Saving Pyrford's Woods & Fields

Update on 18th October Council Meeting

The future of the two fields in Pyrford, threatened with removal from the Green Belt to enable housing development, was discussed at the Woking Council meeting on 18th October. The two fields in question are the Aviary Road Field (bounded by Aviary Road and Upshot Lane) and Randalls Field (bounded by Lovelace Drive, Upshot Lane and Teggs Lane).

The Council voted to approve the proposed Site Allocations Development Plan with a number of amendments. This plan is a large detailed document addressing all proposed development sites in Woking. The good news for our supporters is that under the proposals approved by the Council on the 18th both our fields in Pyrford will remain in Greenbelt.

What happens next?

The Council will incorporate the amendments into the Site Allocations Development Plan and the Council has said that it expects to publish the revised document in early November. There will then be a period (6 weeks) of further public consultation. Then, the Council will submit the plan and the results of the consultation to the Secretary of State for independent examination. An inspector will be appointed and there will likely be public hearings held in Spring/Summer 2019.
So, we still have a number of hurdles to get over before our fields are safe!
